Rosey Posey Perfumes We Adore.
At Valley of Roses, the ingredient Rose is very close to our hearts. Contained in almost three quarters of women’s perfumes, the rose is a classic fragrance note and for good reason. One of the most romantic ingredients there is, the rose is also incredibly versatile. Some rose perfumes can be sweet and girly, others woody and musky, or laced with oud for a more darkly seductive concoction. Over the years, rose has been appearing more and more in male fragrance too – while in certain parts of the Middle East, men are traditionally known to wear rose scents more than women. The most popular types of rose in perfumery are the Turkish rose, the Damask (or Damascene rose) and Rosa Centifolia – also known as ‘Rose de Mai’ as it usually blooms around May and is considered to produce the highest quality of rose absolute there is. We have chosen 3 modern rose perfumes you need to try! #398 Inspired by Idole Isparta Rose Petal Essence from Turkey, along with a Centifolia Rose grown in France, shine among notes of bergamot, accords of pear, India Jasmine Grandiflorum, and a new “clean and glow” accord. This fragrance exudes elegance with a modern twist. Although this fragrance is airy and bright, it is suitable all year round. #550 Inspired by Tom Ford's Rose Prick #550 Rose Prick handles the rose note in a "juicy, flowery and full-bodied" way. Ingredients include Sichuan pepper, turmeric may rose, Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose, patchouli, tonka bean. If you're a fan of #32 Coco Mademoiselle you'll adore this. This is one of the more recent releases by Tom Ford and in perfume and fashion, he very rarely misses. #353 Inspired by Intense Cafe #353 Inspired by Montale’s Intense Cafe is a firm favourite in Valley of Roses- we are all addicted! This is quite THE gourmand. Cafè au lait (not freshly brewed espresso) topped with some kind of vanilla whipped cream, there's a bunch of pink roses on the table and you're happily chatting away with your best friend. It's cosy, comforting, mellow. 10/10 from us. You need it.

While bright, airy, fruit-forward scents are ideal for withstanding the heat, the cool weather and activities that come with fall call for a swap in fragrance. I personally tend to lean towards spicy gourmands that intensify that cozy feeling of laying under a blanket or taking a brisk walk with crunchy red leaves beneath your boots. Comfort typically drives my choice in fragrance, and I like to mix and match depending on my mood and the weather. That said, there really are no rules for seasonal scents. Anything is fair game! Stick with tropical fruits if that sparks joy, or spritz on a sea-inspired scent to extend summer for a little longer. Still, to truly get yourself into the right headspace for a relaxing Autumn, this might be a good time to change up your scent. That's why we've curated a list of the best Valley of Roses scents for the new season, from rain-inspired mists to dark floral blends to warming, spicy oils that'll instantly lift your mood. #387 Inspired by Tom Ford's Velvet Orchid This is the ultimate Autumnal scent! The fragrance opens itself with bergamot, mandarin, Succan absolute (purified rum extract) and honey. At the core of this creation (made of "corporeal floral notes.") is Tom Ford's distinctive, “timeless” signature - an imaginary accord of black orchid blended with notes of velvet orchid, which gives the perfume its name, with intense Turkish rose oil and jasmine and a new accord of purple orchid that grows in the wilds of southern Brazilian coast. There are also additional floral notes of orange blossom, rose absolute, narcissus, hyacinth and heliotrope. The base is warm due to the rich flavours of Peru balsam, myrrh, labdanum, sandalwood, suede and vanilla. #519 Inspired by Zadig and Voltaire Imagine snuggling up in your favourite cosy blanket, an open fire and a cup of hot chocolate... that's the feeling this perfume gives us. Zadig & Voltaire fosters casual, boho and rock styles with a significant dash of cool elegance. We believe this is the ultimate compliment getter and on first try you’ll be wondering where it has been all your life! Sweet yet woody and mysterious you won't have anything like this in your collection. The woody, floral and gourmand This is Her, signed by perfumer duo Sidonie Lancesseur and Michel Almairac, contains notes of pink pepper, Sambac jasmine, milky chestnut cream, vanilla and sandalwood. #540 Inspired by Michael Kors Wonderlust Cosy, glamorous and elegant- Wanderlust is a hidden Autumnal gem. The focus lies on the dianthus flower to give Wonderlust the feel of an almond milk that’s been blended with a “spicy, creamy floral.” Top notes of almond milk are accompanied by heliotrope placed at the hart of the fragrance. The base of the composition provides benzoin, a natural resin from Thailand leaving the impression of warmth, and the spicy sweetness of cinnamon.

Black Orchid is opulent and classically dark; its fragrance is in line with the best creations of the best perfume houses. A luxurious and sensual fragrance with a rich, dark trace of black orchid and spices, it is modern and timeless. It remains to be said that Black Orchid is long lasting and with a widespread aura. The top notes are French jasmine, black truffle, ylang-ylang, black currant, and effervescent citrus. In the floral-spicy heart, dwells Tom Ford's black orchid, more imaginary than real, and the base combines woodsy notes (patchouli and sandalwood), dark chocolate, incense, amber, vetiver, vanilla, and balsam.

Date nights are coming back- and you only get one first impression. Scent is a powerful element in laws of attraction. There are our pheromones, for one thing; our natural "essence," as it were, that many scientists believe can influence the way we're drawn to some people more than others, among other things of course. But while research on the subject is less than definitive, here's one thing we know for sure: When we're heading out to meet a special someone—or just have a feeling we might run into someone of interest—there's nothing that bolsters our confidence and sets the mood like a great date night perfume. Sexy, sensual and alluring are key words we need to describe these scents. 1. BACCARAT ROUGE #543 Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540 Maison Francis Kurkdjian is an Oriental Floral fragrance for women. Although technically unisex, we believe it to be much more feminie in composition. If you want to smell like an heiress- this is the one for you! Totally luxurious and the definition of opulent- you won't regret this purchase. This fragrance is so unique it will leave him wanting more with delicious notes of caramel, wood and amber. Truly unforgettable, sexy and addictive. 2. INTENSE CAFE #353 Inspired by Montale’s Intense Cafe is a firm favourite in Valley of Roses- we are all addicted! This is quite THE gourmand. Cafè au lait (not freshly brewed espresso) topped with some kind of vanilla whipped cream, there's a bunch of pink roses on the table and you're happily chatting away with your best friend. It's cosy, comforting, mellow. Coffee is addictive- and these coffee notes in Intense cafe will leave him craving more. 3. ADDICT #73 Inspired by Dior’s Addict certainly stands up to its name- ADDICTIVE! We are a massive fan of this scent in Valley of Roses with its unique ingredients and seductive power. People feel your presence before you walk into a room - it's one of those scents. A sweet, alluring, evening perfume. Definitely not for shy people or the faint hearted, it fills the entire room and doesn't go unnoticed. You'll find even other guys at the bar asking for your number!!

One of the best things about a great summer fragrance is its ability to, in the shape of a single spritz, take us from the realities of our WFH stations to that summer spent on the Amalfi Coast, the weekend in Paris with friends or that California road trip you spent two years saving and planning for. There’ll always be those specific scents and best perfumes that remind us of certain memories, and they’re just that little bit sweeter when they transport us to warmer climes and holiday throwbacks. Whether you're jetting off to warmer climates or staycationing on our emerald isle, we at Valley of Roses believe you can jet off with a perfume. 1. #502 Inspired by Bronze Goddess #502 Inspired by Bronze Goddess allows you to transport yourself to a sun-drenched foreign holiday at first sniff. Sweet coconut milk, no harshness, with creamy buttery white florals. No matter where you're from, you will smell all your best memories of summer in this perfume - the sun, the sun lotion, the coconut oil, someone drinking a mojito outdoors in a restaurant in the heat. The lime adds the touch of freshness that everyone needs in the summer, like a jump in the water. 2. #389 Inspired by Neroli Portofino #389 Inspired by Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino is a citrus lover’s dream. Imagine standing in a Spanish square on a hot summer day- that's it! This scent is lovely and very inoffensive. Fresh, splashy neroli and bergamot. Great hot weather fragrance. Delightful. Extremely long lasting and very tart and punchy. 3. #391 Inspired by Quatre #391 Inspired by Boucheron Quatre is like a holiday in a bottle. This fragrance is super powerful, punchy and extremely long lasting. Although with powerful, citrus top notes the musky base note compliments the fragrance making it elegant and ultra feminine. Imagine sipping a cocktail on your fav beach- TADAA!

Read moreEMERGING FROM LOCKDOWN THE BEST YOU
Lockdown is coming to a sweet end.. and YOU need to emerge like a butterfly. One year ago, the arrival of Spring/ Summer (amongst other things) was hardly a cause for celebration. This time round, we are feeling a little bit different. As hope lingers in the air, positivity is all over our faces and hot girl summer around the corner you probably rushing to book in your hair, nails, lashes and indeed should be upping your perfume game. Just like your clothes- perfume has trends. The ebbs and flows of perfume ingredients, styles and notes are constantly evolving. Here at Valley of Roses we have noticed distinct trends with new perfume releases.. here are our stand out 3 1. Sour fruits Whenever I think of fruity perfumes, my mind immediately goes to my 13-year-old self's "beauty stash." In modern day perfumery- this assumption couldn't be more wrong. I've given fruity perfumes a second thought, mostly because they are so different from those early aughts fragrances. Some of them blend fruits with more grounding scents. Others are so light, which is perfect for warmer months. And there are some that are playful iterations of past fragrances. In short, you're not going to be smelling like a fruit salad. I'm sold on them now, especially as I'm looking to change up my routine for hot girl summer. We recommend inspired by #545 Angel Nova to up your perfume game to a more modern, summer ready vibe. 2. Amber When it comes to primal instinct, the smell of Amber triggers something comforting in all of us. Would you like to wear a fragrance that contains ‘tiger’s soul’ or ‘tears of the sun’ ? It’s a yes from me! Contrary to popular belief, amber is a ‘fantasy’ perfumery note. Amber is a blend of ingredients that describes a warm, powdery, sweet scent. It consists of a soiree of ingredients (natural and synthetic) such as vanilla, patchouli, labdanum, styrax, benzoin and a few more. It is used to create oriental fragrances that convey a rich, spicy and powdery feel. Amber was primarily used in vintage perfumery- but we notice it being a staple in modern fragrances. We recommend you try #551 Erba Pura to shake up your amber, summer, perfume game. 3. Burnt Sugar Sounds weird right? Burnt, caramelised sugar is a must have ingredient in any modern perfume. The burnt sugar as an ingredient adds depth, sweetness and enables you to smell good enough to eat. This is a relatively new ingredient to perfumery and we notice it being used a whole lot more. To shop the smell, we recommend trying #543 Baccarat Rouge to live your most heiress life.
Read moreFab Spring scents you need in your perfume wardrobe
Spring is finally here and it’s time to put our winter jackets away and open our hearts and minds for the beauty of warm weather. This long-awaited new season brings with it hopes, dreams, and a general feeling of happiness and anticipation for all the amazing things that are going to happen in the summer. Spring is, traditionally, a time when both men and women take a look at their wardrobes and decide which clothes to throw away. This way, we make room for new spring collections with brighter colours that will give us a feeling of rejuvenation and pure joy. What about our perfume wardrobe? It’s time to put away those heavy oriental perfumes that were our everyday choice during the cold winter days. Let’s give way to the lighter spring perfumes that are way more appropriate for the sunny spring outside! Here are our suggestions for the best Spring perfumes 2021. Women perfumes spring 2021: #381 inspired by Hermes Twilly This is a women's "Eau de Parfum" from the Floral family. This is a new creation that aims to pay tribute to and satisfy younger generations. A young and demanding public, in search of a vital and energetic aroma, with a modern air and fresh and vibrant notes. A perfume full of transparent and effervescent nuances of joy and happiness. Thanks to the freshness of its notes, including ginger, orange blossom or bergamot, this fragrance becomes a perfect option to accompany us at any time of the day, especially in spring. #398 inspired by Lancôme Idole. Be your own idol. Great perfumes can mark the beginning of a new era. Idole really breaks the codes established in the world of fragrances, giving life to the essence of a new spirit- embodying Spring. For those women who believe that the sky is never the limit and dare to open new horizons. At the heart of this perfume, the most noble and iconic ingredient, the rose, stands out. Four types of roses, three types of extractions and two geographical origins have been necessary to create the bright, natural and renewed note of rose. In Idole, Jasmine Absolute oil is linked to the heart of roses, revealing a comfortable, clean and intense softness. For all those women who are their own idol, who exceed their own limits and create the world of tomorrow. This perfume is excellent for ladies of any age and makes an excellent blind buy or gift. #391 inspired by Boucheron Quatre. Another fragrance that belongs to the floral-fruity fragrance family is Quatre by Boucheron. This lovely spring perfume has a modern scent that is aimed at impressing the younger fans of the perfume brand. Inspired by Paris and its eternal beauty, this floral-fruity perfume with elegant woody base notes will certainly get you under the spotlight this spring. Feminine and sophisticated, Boucheron Quatre is an irresistible perfume that won’t leave you unnoticed! #369 inspired by Good Girl This perfume is belonging to the oriental floral family. We are facing the most talked Carolina Herrera creation. This was inspired by a night in New York, the city that never sleeps. It’s olfactory pyramid starts stomping. Almond and coffee are the protagonists of their encouraging, powerful, enigmatic, addictive, unusual notes that captivate and create excitement to a heart that does not disappoint. In it we find magic flowers, cone Sambac jasmine, tuberose and orris root, hot and sensual smell. To end this experience, we reach a fusion of tonka bean sandalwood, which create the oriental tinge, with cocoa and vanilla, totally aphrodisiac smell. Men perfumes Spring 2021: #250 inspired by Versace Dylan Blue Created for the younger man (in his 20s and 30s), Versace Dylan Blue is a mixture of fresh and memorable perfume notes. What sets it apart from the regular men’s fragrances on the market is its powerful combination of citruses, fig leaves, aquatic notes, black pepper, violet leaves, and papyrus. Here’s how Donatella Versace describes the perfume: “Dylan Blue captures such an evocative world of Versace masculinity”, she says, adding that it is “strong, fresh, seductive.” #231 inspired by Hermes Terre D’Hermes This men’s fragrance was launched more than 10 years ago (back in 2006) but its elegance soon put it in the top men’s perfumes for spring. It is not your usual men’s fragrance, though! Its composition is distinct and memorable – just like the man who dares to wear it. The composition of Hermes Terre D’Hermes is minimalist, yet impossible to forget: it opens with sweet citrusy top notes, then evolves into a whole plethora of heart notes (pepper, cedar, patchouli). The fragrance matures and gets warmer thanks to its earthy woody base notes. We at Valley Of Roses are obsessed with this versatile fragrance that will take you to any occasion this Spring. #410 inspired by Fierce This inspiring men’s fragrance is among our favourite perfumes for men this spring. It is the perfect scent for the man who is ready to conquer women’s hearts after the long winter is over. Powerful and energising, its scent goes hand in hand with the law of attraction, leaving no woman indifferent to its captivating scent. Designed for the confident man, this perfume is perfect both for business meetings and for the (still) cool spring evenings. If you want a reminder of the salty ocean air, then Fierce is your best option this spring!

It may seem like adding perfume to your daily routine is a simple thing, but in fact, the art of wearing a fragrance requires more mastery than simply spraying it on. Yes, you can pick a bottle up, spray it or drop the perfume liquid on your skin and go. However, you may realise your perfume smells too strong, it disappears too fast, or it doesn’t smell the same as it once did. Valley of Roses are here to help you with your perfume quibbles. To help you get the most out of your perfume, our perfume Queen Andriana has put together our 5 top perfuming tips.A set of unsaid rules when it comes to perfuming, with these tips you will be a master at the art of wearing fragrance well. We at Valley Of Roses want you to feel confident in the perfume fragrance you choose to wear and slay the day. Sarah Secrets Blog @sarahsecrets_blogTip 1 – Try before you buyThe first rule of perfume is to always test it before you buy it. Fragrance notes can change over time and some notes may not work well with your particular body chemistry or molecular makeup of your skin. The more perfumes to try, you will be able to understand what notes work better for you and what notes you enjoy more. If you can, Valley of Roses recommends a trip to our beautiful store on Rose Inn street in Kilkenny where our expert team will assist you with this.Tip 2 – Less is more, you can always reapply more if needed. We like this tip a lot. You see, it is always going to be easier to add more perfume than take it off. It is always going to be good to remember that too heavy perfume can cause a headache not only to other people but also to you. If you don’t want your favourite fragrance to become your worst enemy or you wonder how to wear perfume subtle, the answer is also 1-2 sprays. Then, once it is applied and aftersome time, you can spray another few sprays if it feels too light. We recommend one spray per pulse point- the neck, behind the ears and wrists. We also recommend never ever rub in your perfume- always dab dab dab! Rubbing in your perfume can destroy the chemical makeup of the perfume which can damage its longevity. And, in the case that you do apply too much perfume, we suggest using an unscented baby wipe to try and remove it. Tip 3 – Proper storage and sizeDid you know that perfume can go bad? All perfume and cosmetics have a shelf-life. Something that many people overlook, a perfume when stored incorrectly or opened and unused will not last. Precious as it is, perfume should be consumed at a brisk pace. Keeping a half-used bottle on your shelf allows oxygen (the “natural enemy of perfume,” says Andriana) to slowly break down the scent’s molecules, altering its composition. We recommend storing your Valley Of Roses perfume in a cool, dark and dry place away from direct sunlight. Keeping it in its fabulous box should do the trick. Once opened, Valley of Roses fragrances should last for 3 years if kept in correct storage conditions.Tip 4 – Ask a friend or someone you trustSometimes your nose may not be able to tell if a scent is too strong or if it is right for you. This phenomenon is what we like to call in Valley Of Roses ‘nose blindness’. With that in mind, always go with your first instinct, but when in doubt ask someone. Ask your bestie, mom, sibling, or partner if they enjoy the perfume. We are sure they will tell you the honest truth. But remember- perfume is completely personal to everyone so don’t be disheartened if they are not a major fan of something you’re adoring- perfume choice is completely unique. If you’re finding it hard to smell anything at all it may be your environment. We recommend stepping outside and taking a deep breath of air and trying again to detectthe smell.Tip 5 – Go syntheticSomething that might sound shocking, however when you think about it, this makes total sense that synthetic isn’t bad. Saving the lives of animals as well as certain strains of plants — perhaps the most popular note, musk, which was formerly derived from deer, amber derived from whales (yikes!) and now brings softness to the scent and enhances its trail. Other smells, such as peony, freesia, and lily of the valley, cannot be obtained by natural extraction simply because they don’t release any aroma whatsoever, he says, forcing them to instead be re-created with a blend of synthetic molecules. And while some of the best perfumers have used a blend of natural and synthetic molecules since the late19th century, nowadays, chemical creations are tightly controlled and tested for safety by health organisations. Following strict regulations, Valley of Roses uses synthetic fragrances in our blends. We're proud to be vegan and cruelty free! Now that you have a better understanding of the art of perfuming, you can confidently apply your favourite fragrance and slay the day.
Read moreWhat is the difference between EDT, EDP, EDC?
It’s an exciting day! You have just spent some time at the store smelling all of the wonderful perfume options and have found one that you love. As you pick up the box to purchase the perfume and notice it says “Eau De Toilette”... huh? Scratching your head in wonder, you start to ask yourself… What does that mean? Taking a look at other perfume boxes you notice some say Eau De Toilette while others say Perfume, Eau De Parfum, Eau De Cologne. Even the perfume you originally loved comes in EDT and EDP. It's all so confusing! HELP! First, to understand what EDT, EDP, and EDC all means, you must understand what all perfume is made of. We begin to understand the word “fragrance”. By definition it is “generally a unisex term for, well any smell that’s a certain amount of fragrance oil diluted in alcohol and water. Meaning that all perfume is made of three things, 1 – alcohol, 2 – water, 3 – essential oil. Now you know the facts… it all boils down to how much fragrance is actually in the bottle. So, depending on how long you want the smell to last or how strong, you must buy the right Perfume, EDC, EDP, or EDT to suit your needs. And why is there alcohol in perfume anyway you may ask- and it's not to give it a boozy note. The use of alcohol in perfume helps break down perfume ingredients. It helps merge oils and aroma products together. Alcohol evaporates almost instantly, which makes it an ideal base for perfumes. Alcohol helps diffuse and lift perfumes notes. It also adds to the longevity of shelf life. Beginning with EDT or Eau de Toilette — this type is generally the most common. Boasting a fragrance concentration of between 5% and 15%. It is often less expensive than eau de parfum and is one of the most popular types of fragrance available. EDT fragrance will normally last for two to three hours. Considered by some to be for daywear while eau de parfum is considered nightwear, the term eau de toilette comes from the French term “faire sa toilette” which means getting ready. So, back to our earlier speculations, yes and no… EDT is meant to be sprayed in the bathroom but not as an air freshener. It is a refreshing light perfume. On to EDP or Eau de Parfum — this type is heavier than EDT but is lighter than Perfume, with a 15-20% concentration. All our fragrances at Valley Of Roses are of this type. It still has long lasting characteristics, from 6 to 10 hours and is less expensive than pure perfume. Suitable for everyday wear yet strong enough to last through evening meals and boozy nights out, this type is preferred by perfume lovers worldwide. Historically genderless, EDP is the best term used to describe a fragrance. A well known term for perfume EDC or Eau de Cologne — Contrary to what you may think, this type is the lightest of them all. Containing a much lower concentration of fragrance than the above types of perfume, EDC generally has a 2% to 4% percent concentration of fragrance and a high concentration of alcohol. It is cheaper than other types of fragrance however the scent generally only lasts for up to two hours. EDC generally comes in bigger bottles and more of the fragrance needs to be used. Originally eau de cologne referred to a traditional recipe that used herb and citrus notes with little anchoring with base notes. So, not just for men, however its origin is based on a more masculine aroma. Finally, the holy grail, Perfume itself — this type is the most expensive and the strongest fragrance available. It consists of a 20-30% concentration of perfume essence. This means that not only do you need to use less, but also that the fragrance lasts longer, typically for up to 10 hours, depending on skin type. Some people even say the scent lasts up to 24 hours, maybe even into the morning. A stronger smell, this concentration is generally advised for those with sensitive skin however those with sensitive noses may not enjoy how long it lasts. And, just like that you now understand the difference between EDT vs EDP vs EDC. YAY!
