#424 Inspired by Elysium is a welcomed new addition to Valley of Roses.
Overall, Elysium Parfum Cologne smells like fresh, dry, citrusy, and very masculine scent and the main notes that you can smell right away are grapefruit, vetiver, ambergris, and lime. Absolutely beautiful fresh fougere!
Elysium Parfum Cologne is an extremely complicated scent, very well blended, and definitely one of those scents that evolve so much like it’s telling a story – and it is.
The opening starts as crisp, fresh, and dynamic with an amazing burst of lime and grapefruit which are reinforced with pink pepper. In the opening, you can also slightly feel a special type of musk that works like a top note even though it’s in the base, and it’s the only musk in the world that performs that way.
A combination of heart notes is just stunning. Vetiver and grapefruit would be the only note that you could detect while others are mixed in such a good way that’s almost impossible to figure them out. Overall, after initial opening passes and you get to the heart notes, you Elysium Parfum Cologne starts smelling like fresh lavender combined with a touch of floral-fruity combination. WE ARE OBSESSED!

#422 Inspired by … Ebene Fume is amazing!
Ébène Fumé opens with a soft woody smokiness tinged with labdanum and leather. It’s calming, serene and wonderfully subtle. As the perfume develops, the incense loses a bit of its sharpness and a smooth and slightly creamy cistus enters. At this point, the perfume feels like a sheath of light leather is embracing your skin. Hints of florals help to make the creation more rounded which helps to keep it from becoming too smoky. Beyond that, the perfume doesn’t develop much except for the addition of a lightly sweetened guaiac woody note. Ébène Fumé isn’t a game changing perfume, but it’s perfect for those times when you are looking for quiet reflection.
The woods were noticeably drier after 15 minutes of settling on my skin as the papyrus note emerged. As the incense receded to the background, Ebene Fume became creamy, dry woods and aged leather with a modicum of resinous sweetness. I felt like the sweet, lightly spiced resins added more warmth and smoothed out the composition, though the incense was more of a blown out haze after an hour of wear. It was a more linear journey, which is not a bad thing so long as you enjoy those notes, and it only sweetened and became creamier over the next few hours in the drydown.
